Casteele, Williams & Associates is a counseling and treatment agency dedicated to providing assessments and holistic treatment that address and respect the rights, culture, and health needs in our community. We offer behavioral health services that use a strengths-based, multicultural approach in order to serve the needs of our diverse population. Our highly professional, compassionate staff have years of experience working with behavioral health, addiction, and domestic violence issues.

As a state certified agency, Casteele, Williams & Associates offer treatment for alcoholism, drug addictions, co-occurring disorders, as well as treatment for both the victims and perpetrators of domestic violence. We have served Pierce County for over 20 years, and it is our goal to bring effective services to all populations – including those who generally have difficulty in accessing this type of care. We are committed to providing comprehensive behavioral health services to diverse and under-served communities.

Dr John Casteele, PhD

Dr Casteele PhD, LMFT, CDP specializes in providing the full spectrum of mental health services, including marriage, family and individual counseling, domestic violence counseling,chemical dependency treatment, and christian counseling.

Adriene Casteele, MA

Adriene focuses on individuals, families and groups dealing with domestic violence, mental illness and anger issues. She collaborates closely with other agencies to better support clients.

Roberta Carpenter, AA

Roberta is the glue that keeps the office working smoothly. She is highly effective in dealing with clients needs and also keeping up to date with best practices to maintain a healthy working environment.

Angela Listy, MA

Angela's experience includes psychological evaluations for both forensic and clinical issues, neuropsychological evaluations, specializing in individual, couples, and family therapy, domestic violence, and parenting evaluations.

Our Founder

john-casteelDr. Casteele attended Tacoma Community College and Central Washington University, majoring in Public Health Education.  He continued his education by attending Pacific Lutheran University earning a Master’s Degree in Psychology followed by a Doctorate in Ministry and a Doctorate of Philosophy at the Bishop Hardy Academy of Theology, Seattle.

 

Dr. Casteele specializes in providing the full spectrum of Mental Health services, to include Marriage and Family counseling, individual, Domestic Violence, and chemical Dependency Treatment; working with youth, adults, and diverse populations in an outpatient counseling and treatment setting. He has exemplary public and human service skills and experience with diverse socioeconomic, multi-ethnic, and cultural backgrounds while coordinating and providing Mental Health Services.

 

His professional training, licensure, and certifications include Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Chemical Dependency Professional Counselor, Alcohol/Drug Information School Instructor, Certified Domestic Violence Counselor/Supervisor, and Licensed Pastoral Christian Marriage Family Therapist

 

Today, he implements policies and procedures and oversees the day-to-day operations of the agency to include fiscal, administrative, and clerical. He is responsible for the continuing development and improvement of patient care and stays familiar and compliant with federal and state governmental codes. He has trained over 12 counselors in various specialty areas of mental health field.

Helping Overcome Personal Emptiness (H.O.P.E.) Victim Advocacy presented him with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication in Domestic Violence and Victims of Domestic Violence.

Biography

1972-1986
Tacoma/Pierce County Health Dept. Tacoma, WA
He was the Director Public Health Education where he was responsible for allocating funding for program through grant writing and donor drives, represented the Health Department to potential donors, planned, organized, and taught public health classes. He also developed training material for the public and collaborated with other foundations.

 

1970-1972
Tacoma Public Schools
He planned daily assignments for the following subjects Health Education, English, Remedial and Reading. He also participated as a paraprofessional in the Career Opportunity Program which prepared participants for work in the teaching profession, culminating in a Baccalaureate of Arts (BA) Degree.

 

Military Service

1965-1969
Active Duty/United States Army Non Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOC), as custodian of postal effects of the Army post office, while serving 2 tours of duty in the providence of Vietnam. Highest rank attained during active duty enlistment was Staff Sargent (E-6.)

 

1970-1989
United States Army Reserve—Portland Ave., Tacoma, WA

 

1990-1995
Army National Guard—Camp Murray, WA

Family Support Coordinator:
Provided therapeutic support to military families in crisis.
Participated in deployments to areas with few mental health specialists in order to offer counseling support to families with active or reserve soldiers overseas.
Developed protocol for dependent spouses in case of emergency.
Planned and coordinated family activities within.
Nuclear Biological and Chemical (NBC) NCO.

Honorably discharged and retired December 15, 1995.
Highest rank attained was Master Sargent (E8.)

 

Pastor Casteele accepted his calling into the ministry in 1990 under the leadership of Dr. J.A. Boles, Pastor of St. John Baptist Church.  Pastor Casteele is the founder and director of the Lamb of God Christian Ministries radio broadcast aired each Sunday at 9:00pm – KLAY 1180AM located in Lakewood. Reverend Casteele is also the Pastor of the Lamb of God Christian Community Church.
